Doovad Hohdan - 3D Action Animator

♦ Professional 3D animator using Blender. Used to animate in SourceFilmmaker.
♦ Plays too many video games and joins friend's streams a lot.
I picked up Source Filmmaker as a joke back in 2012. I created a bunch of short videos testing it out and seeing how it worked.
Striving to work around the limitations of the program and to bring content for everyone to enjoy.
I only animate in Blender now as it opened so many opportunities to my workflow.

collection of my best animations

A page featuring animations that I've created or have helped created. These are animations that I'm the most proud of.This page will get updated from time to time.

my smash academia

One of the animations I'm most proud of. It started back in 2017 when it was only going to be the punch. But I decided to expand it further to cover the whole scene.
This was the video where I started experimenting with particle editing and camera tricks.

my smash academia 2

Started immediately after the completion of the first one. I doubled down on the focus of background decoration and interaction. As well as more focus on particles and camera work.
I tried my best to translate some scenes in creative ways like Palutena's part. I couldn't find a way to do it 1:1 so I just went with a creative change and people seem to really like it.

my smash academia 3

It's been over two years since the last one and I had decided to finally return to the YouTube scene with a third addition to the My Smash Academia series.
I chose not to go too into it as I was using this as a way to brush off some rust from my skills. But I still had a deep focus on visual effects and creative changes to the original material.

standing here, i realize

When the meme was surfacing, I wanted to take part in it. But as I kept working on it, I wanted to do more with it, so I ended up doing an extension of the scene itself.
That was when my friend BotanicSage hit me up and said he wanted to do a mash-up for the video. It was hard but he pulled it off and made an awesome track for the video.

Deathbattle - Ganon vs dracula

The first major milestone in my animating career. Getting to work with DevilArtemis, Daitomodachi and an in-house animator of RoosterTeeth: SXR123.
It was incredibly fun getting to know everyone and working together to create a massive project.
From the get-go, we wanted to have a bit more focus on the lighting and creating an nice scenery for the interior.
My animation is from 16:40 to 17:23

deathbattle - kakashi vs kenobi

Coming back together with the same team from the last DeathBattle episode. We decided to double down our focus on the lighting and background work.
This was fun to work on but it was also really to execute. Having Kakashi move around that quickly was something that gave me trouble for a while. As well as the punches he was giving to Kenobi and the exchange right after.
My animation is from 13:14 to 14:26

db - batgirl vs spider-gwen

Not my personal favorite, I'm not a comic-book person so I struggled with the material. I did ask for a lot of help in regards to direction and I was able to pull through with a good animation.
Unfortunately, I suffered an ear infection midway through production that took me out for a week and it impacted my workflow heavily. The team was a big help on that and helped me make the deadline.
My animation is from 13:30 to 14:53

deathbattle - link vs cloud(2o21)

Another major milestone in my animation career. It was the first time I've ever animated in Blender. I was purely a Source Filmmaker animator for all my career and I rarely messed with Blender.
This was, by far, the most hardest episode to work on as I was completely out of my element. Not knowing how to do effects or a comfortable style really made it hard for me. Both Daitomodachi and Xander were incredibly helpful and patient with me.
My animation is from 13:17 to 13:58 and 14:07 to 14:11

deathbattle - harley quinn vs jinx (2o22)

Back with the team: Daitomodachi and Xander while working with FinalxBoss, Plake and Billy for the first time!
A completely new workflow was tested for this fight and it was pretty stressful, but with lots of communicating and tons of teamwork, the fight came out looking the best we've ever done together. The visual work was done by Billy's team and they did a fantastic job bringing out the best in our animations!
My animation is from 15:00 to 15:34 and 16:35 to 17:10

Smash Wall COllab (2020) - Entry

I took part in ZackAttack27's Smash Wall Collab back in 2020. With this being primarily a 2D collab, I wanted to see how I can do this in 3D. I did a perspective trick to line up the floor and wall properly for other submissions.

DMCV - Nero Intro With Arm

I'm such a big fan of Devil May Cry V and I always love the opening cutscenes of the game. I thought to make one for Nero having his organic arm.
This is a spoiler for the game, by the way.

Fury Bowser - Visual Test

I took a long break from Source Filmmaker and I decided to make a visual test. At the time, Super Mario 3D World: Bowser's Fury just came out and I had so much fun with the game. I think the concept of Fury Bowser is so cool and I had to do something awesome with it.
